I've made a fair few videos on my Youtube channel, teaching people how to go about starting their Metal Detecting journey. Hundreds of thousands of people have benefited from these videos, and I get messages daily, thanking me for positively nudging those newbie diggers in the right direction.

So now you have fair few good starting points to embark on your Metal Detecting journey. But this is just the beginning, brave warriors, and many traps and pitfalls await you on your way. Firstly, have a read of this post on 'How to make money metal detecting' to get an awareness of the truth around this subject. In addition, check out this video I did on my truthful finds rate.
Once you understand that, let's take a look at the psychology of staying positive and consistent. Try and maintain this way of thinking BEFORE you start the hobby, and your journey will be a long and fruitful one, trust me.
Now, before we move on - many people ask me what the best beginners Metal Detector is to buy. Well, having tested and reviewed many detectors, I'd have to say that the Quest X10 is my favourite so far, especially for the ridiculous price it is! Now you understand the basics, know how to get permission, and have strengthened your psychology so you proactively understand that it's not all about the treasure, let's move on to how to Metal Detect beaches. The video below is also jammed with tips on how to successfully go about hitting those beaches. If I was to add anything to this video, it would be to recommend some sort of sand scoop, as this has really helped me on the beach recently. Here's one, here.
Now before we move on, I want you to consider getting yourself a pointer. This, is a small hand held Metal Detector, which really quickens your finds rate. Most on the market are ridiculously expensive, but I managed to find one that is super cheap and super efficient after using many others. Here's a video explaining more about it, with a link to the pointer below the video:
So even though the above videos are crammed with useful information, you've probably still got lots of questions you want to ask. Such as 'should I join a club?' and 'what do I do if I find a bomb' as well as more. I do my best to answer the most common of Beginners Metal Detecting questions in the video below:
